Inside Outside / Petra Blaisse, booklaunch at Storefront for Art & Architecture, New York

Storefront for Art and Architecture invites you to join Petra Blaisse, Irma Boom and guests for a reception and booksigning to celebrate the launch of Inside Outside: Petra Blaisse, published by NAI Publishers and distributed by DAP. Dutch interior and landscape designer Petra Blaisse, whose work was exhibited at Storefront in September 2000, is an internationally renowned creator who over the years has proposed new and more ambitious roles for landscape and interior architecture. On her own and in collaboration with city planners and architects such as Tim Ronalds, SANAA/Kazuyo Sejima, Macken & Macken, OMA/Rem Koolhaas, Michael Maltzan. Blaisse intervenes in important projects in Europe, Asia and the United States.

Blaisse's work challenges architecture's rigidity and severity by developing more mutable and fluid solutions, both inside and outside. This is how Blaisse turns what is often treated as an afterthought into an almost overpowering experience. The full range of her work will be introduced to the public in this book. It contains documentation of several important projects, a conversation between the editor Kayoko Ota and Petra Blaisse, and essays by several renowned authors. The book will be illuminating to architects, engineers and designers of all disciplines and has the potential to give new impetus to the whole architectural field. Kayoko Ota (ed.) en Petra Blaisse (text); essays from Sanford Kwinter, Cecil Balmond, Renz van Luxemburg, Gaston Bekkers,Chris Dercon et al.
