presents Mike and Maaike at the 19th International Contemporary
Furniture Fair, Booth 2342
Council,
a new design and manufacturing company, will launch at the International
Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York City this spring.
Showcasing the work of forward-looking designers from around
the world, the company’s premiere collection, “Optimism,”
which includes dining and lounge pieces, storage, seating, and
occasional tables, will be on display, including the Mute Chair
by San Francisco-based Mike and Maaike.

Mike and Maaike
A joint effort between Maaike Evers and Mike Simonian, Mike
and Maaike create experimental designs, progressive ideas and
unexpected solutions for products, furniture, wearables, and
environments. Maaike is originally from The Netherlands; Mike,
from Los Angeles. Their diverse backgrounds give Mike and Maaike
a unique perspective, while their experimental process builds
a strong conceptual foundation for their work. The company,
which has received recognition and awards from design publications
around the world, is based in San Francisco.

the Mute Chair
The Mute chair is designed to inspire serenity and calm. The
simple, uninterrupted lines flow gently around the fully upholstered
seat; the simple base is made of powder-coated steel. Seats,
upholstered in 100% wool fabric, come in Charcoal, Oatmeal,
Blue and Red.

Council Inc. was founded in 2007. It will launch to the design
community at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF)
in May. As the name suggests, Council was born from the notion
of collaboration—its collections reflect the contributions
of designers from around the world. Targeting what it believes
